The method
What is the Norwegian Method?
The Norwegian Method is built around subthreshold running: controlled efforts held just below your lactate threshold. Instead of a few punishing sessions, you accumulate large volumes of quality work at an intensity you can repeat twice a week, every week.
Precision, not punishment
Every quality session sits in a controlled subthreshold zone. Hard enough to drive adaptation, easy enough to repeat in 48 hours.
Volume that counts
Most runners run easy days too hard and hard days too hard. Subthreshold training fixes both, so consistency compounds into speed.
Built to repeat
The method works because it is designed to be sustained for months, not survived for weeks.
One method, two structures
Singles or Doubles? Your plan decides.
The Norwegian Method scales with your schedule. Your plan picks the right structure automatically based on your experience and training days.
Norwegian Singles
Two subthreshold sessions a week, one per day, plus easy volume and a long run. The durable foundation for runners training 4 to 6 days a week.
Norwegian Doubles
Two quality sessions in a single day, morning and evening, to pack more subthreshold minutes into the week. For experienced runners with the volume to absorb it.

Questions
Norwegian Method, answered.
Do I need a lactate meter?
No. RunCoach calibrates your intensity from a recent race time or your easy pace, combined with heart rate. The principles work without lab equipment.
How is this different from polarized training?
Polarized training puts most quality work above threshold. The Norwegian Method keeps it just below, so you can train more often, recover faster, and accumulate far more quality minutes per week.
Will I run faster by running easier?
Yes. Consistent subthreshold volume month after month beats rare, heroic sessions every time.
What are Norwegian Singles and Doubles?
Singles means one quality session per day. Doubles means two in a single day, morning and evening. Your plan picks the right structure based on your experience and how many days you train.
What if I miss a session?
You move on. The method is built around consistency over the long arc, so one missed workout changes nothing.
How long until I see results?
Most runners feel the difference within 4 to 6 weeks. Race-day gains typically show up at the 12 to 16 week mark.
